I’m Back…even though technically i never went anywhere.

Ello folks, time to get back to updating this here blog.

Apologies for the complete lack of anything since January. During the hiatus i was making a short film, which took up a bit of time…although thats not really the reason for lack of updates, guess i just got sick “website stuff”. SJ suffered the same fate…But i’m going to try and get back into the swing of things.

Me and my cousin may be recording a podcast soon, we did a test-run a few weeks ago just to see if we could do it and it turned out pretty well. It’ll be a general podcast that covers a variety of things; movies, tv, bizzare news stories etc. I’m also thinking about playing some music too, unsigned artists and bands. We shall see.

A Bunch Of My Custom Trailers

Video editing is something i enjoy doing quite a bit and every now and then i’ll make a trailer or two.

The first is a trailer for the bad-tastic early Brandon Lee flick ‘Laser Mission’ (aka Solider Of Fortune). My aim was to make this imcompetent piece of z-movie magic look like an exciting and well made action movie. Albiet with a bit of fun poked at all of the wonderful action movie trailer cliche’s of yesteryear (shouty bits of dialogue, brief glimpse of sex, explosions etc…)

Next is a trailer for the Filipino dwarf-Bond classic ‘The Impossible Kid’ starring the ever entertaining Weng Weng. Edited to the genius sounds of the ‘Truck Turner’ trailer. I think this is probably my favourite.

Here is a mash-up of ‘Spider-Man 3′ and the Turkish classic ‘3 Dev Adam’…To me, Spidey 3 would’ve been alot better if it had followed the story of this trailer…Spidey is joined with the symbiote and instead of becoming an annoying miserable shit he becomes Evil Turkish Spider-Man. Cue stabbings and maniacal laughter.

Another Turkish mash up, ‘Turkish Star Wars’ (The Man Who Saved The World) mixed with the early teaser trailer for ‘Star Wars. The C3PO bit gets me every time.

‘King Of The Gypsies’ Documentary

Thanks to shanemeadows.co.uk, Shanes 1995 short documentary about bare knuckle fighter Bartley Gorman is on Youtube. If you’ve seen ‘A Room For Romeo Brass’ you’ll recognise Bartleys voice as it was adopted by Paddy for the Morrell character.

Meadows next feature is a biopic about Gorman, which should be fantastic.

New Fulci/Argento DVD’s Coming In 08

Fangoria has revealed some rather tasty details concerning a couple releases from Paura and NoShame. A Fulci tribute and ‘Door Into Darkness’, Argento’s “Hitchcock Presents” style show from the 70’s.

Mike Baronas of Paura Productions sent along the first look at cover art and details on PAURA: LUCIO FULCI REMEMBERED, the retrospective DVD we first reported on here. Set for release February 26, the disc features reminiscences about the Italian maestro by nearly 90 of his collaborators and peers, including Lamberto Bava, Fabrizio De Angelis, Giannetto De Rossi, Catriona MacColl, Carlo Rambaldi, Michele Soavi, Umberto Lenzi, Florinda Bolkan and many others. The retail price is $20, and pre-orders for the DVD (as well as a special collector’s autographed edition, with two ancillary pages signed by 50 Fulci stars and crew) will be taken starting January 6. Go to the Paura site linked above for more info.

After a period of inactivity, NoShame Films is coming back (though that site hasn’t been updated in a while) with a two-disc release of Dario Argento’s DOOR INTO DARKNESS February 26. This 1973 TV series produced by the giallo master consists of four one-hour episodes: IL VICINO DE CASA (THE NEIGHBOR), directed by Luigi Cozzi; IL TRAM, helmed by Argento himself under the pseudonym Sirio Bernadotte; TESTIMONE OCULARE (EYEWITNESS), originally directed by Roberto Pariante but reshot by Argento; and LA BAMBOLA (THE DOLL), helmed by Mario Foglietti. Special features, if any, accompanying the fullscreen transfers have yet to be announced; we’ll keep you updated. Retail price is $24.95.
